In your own words, tell us a bit about your new Nia × Sylvia P collection:
This collection is designed specifically to feel personal to you. I wanted everyone to feel included and drawn to ‘their’ Leo! I separated each Leo into four elements with hidden astrological signs throughout. Each Leo corresponds with your zodiac sign and element to allow YOU to feel in your element at practice.
What inspired this collection?
Astrology definitely inspired this collection. I know we all can relate to zodiac signs and how they are personal to you and your interests. I wanted to bring personal excitement towards a leotard that was specially created for you. I grouped each sign together based on the four elements. If you look closely, you will find a hidden gem that is custom to you and connected to the universe. What’s the key message behind this collection?
The key message behind this collection is to look within yourself to find the courage to accomplish your goals.
And this will help you find …?
Your passions, goals, or interests to empower you to feel in your element. Why is this message so important for you to share?
It's important to share this message because we are trained to find validation from others when we have all the validation, confidence, strength, and courage we need to be happy. How would you describe ‘being in your element’?
Being in your element means being poised, being confident, and being unapologetically you.
What are your top three tips to get (and stay!) there?
- Remind yourself of your most powerful affirmations.
- Find ways to obtain peace through moments of uneasiness. Try breathing exercises to remain calm and confident.
- Do what makes you happy!
You’ve spoken recently about the journey you’ve been on learning to love and like yourself. How have you found this journey?
The journey to love and like yourself has been unlike any other. You see yourself in your most vulnerable moments as well as your highest, most proud moments. It’s about remaining true to who you are through the ups, downs, twists, and turns and remembering what it is that makes you happiest to feel in your element.
It looks like dancing is becoming increasingly important to you—was it always this way? And what’s next?
I’ve always loved to dance ever since I was a child. I used to learn dances on YouTube in my room for hours and hours working myself to the core. I didn’t realize how much I really loved to dance until my years at UCLA. My environment gave me the courage to be myself and release the movements that have been held in my soul for some time. I plan to embark on my professional dance journey as of now. I have booked a few jobs that have brought me the most excitement and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
Get ready to be unapologetically you—and happy. Nia × Sylvia P is LIVE NOW.
